What Is the Difference Between UltraShape and CoolSculpting?

A good diet and steady workout is the right combination for successful weight loss, but there will always be some isolated pockets of fat that will refuse to budge. A lot of factors play into the distribution of fat in the body, but a lot of body contouring procedures are also available to address that, Ultrashape and CoolSculptin being the two best options in the market

What is the difference between CoolSculpting and UltraShape? UltraShape uses ultrasound technology to destroy fat cells while CoolSculpting uses freezing technology to destroy fat cells.

In this article, we break down their key differences to help you determine which is better for your beauty goals.

UltraShape and CoolSculpting: How Do They Work

UltraShape and CoolSculpting are both FDA-approved and non-surgical body contouring procedures that use different technologies to break down fat cells in the body.

UltraShape uses ultrasound energy to selectively destroy fat cells while CoolSculpting uses a process called cryolipolysis, or fat freezing. Both treatments can deliver great results for the right candidates, so it’s best to consider and understand all the factors before settling on one.

UltraShape and CoolSculpting: What Are The Key Differences

1. Fat Elimination Method

UltraShape uses a device to administer frequent ultrasonic pressure waves against the target areas, causing cavities in the fat cell membranes and releasing fat in the form of triglycerides. These triglycerides are then expelled by the liver as waste.

CoolSculpting also eliminates fat through the liver, but through a simpler process called cryolipolysis. It uses cooling applicators to freeze the fat cells since they are uniquely vulnerable to extreme temperatures. That is to say, the cooling applicators can only damage the fat cells, not the surrounding tissues or even the skin.

2. Amount of Treatment Time

The duration of a treatment for both UltraShape and CoolSculpting largely depends on the areas being treated and the applicators being used. The average treatment time for an UltraShape patient is about 45 minutes to an hour per area, ideally spaced two weeks apart.

A CoolSculpting patient will need about an hour per applicator, although that time can be cut in half when the treatment providers use two applicators per area. The safest way to estimate the time needed per session is to consult with a professional that can develop a personalized  treatment for you.

3. Timeline of Results

The results of any fat elimination procedure are affected by various factors like genetics, lifestyle, and frequency of treatment. The most ideal results for UltraShape should start showing within 2 - 4 weeks after the final treatment, usually the third session or the 6th week.

CoolSculpting on the other hand only takes about 3 weeks after the first treatment before any visible reduction of fat. The final results for both CoolSculpting and UltraShape are best measured at least a month after the final session.

4. The Cost

For UltraShape also varies by the size of the treatment areas and the applicators needed, but it can fall anywhere between $600 to $1,500 per treatment.

Similarly, Coolsculpting smaller areas like the arms and inner thighs will average around $500 while larger areas can amount to $2,000 per session. Usually repeat sessions will cost less and less as the amount of targeted fat also lessens.

UltraShape or CoolSculpting: What would work better for you?

Both UltraShape and CoolSculpting treatments are customizable according to your lifestyles, genes, and goals. Each treatment offers its own flexibilities.

What Our Clients Say About Us

  • "The treatment itself was not uncomfortable. Afterwords, I felt great. I didn't really notice anything for about 30 days. After day 30 until about a month later, I started noticing that my favorite jeans were not as tight anymore. I wasn't having to suck in to get them buttoned. And by that two month period after my CoolSculpting

  • "It's subtle at first, and then a month later you look and go, "Wow - It really did something!" It really moved the bar for me, and I'm feeling better about myself already. It feels so good to put on anything and know I look as good as I've ever looked. And I didn't say that or feel that when I was in my 20's, 30's, and 40's."
